How I can get the status icon to display the network in the system tray in Windows 98?
You could do something in this regard: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=286192 but obviously you do for the network connection, not dial up connection. if you go to Control Panel Network Connections then click the network connection go to properties and there you should see a checkbox that must be made visible in the system tray, if its already checked, uncheck it and click Apply, and then again check box and click Apply, and must remedy.
